I think the “talent” shows you’re talking about are not really about talent in the sense of the word. They’re really more about a narrative, and a kind of soap. They’re very well produced to provide all the necessary characters needed to tell a story. Artists that get “noticed” have a great back story… it’s not enough to sing well. There are thousands of amazing “singers”. So what? –What makes you different? Work on that, because right now you are just a face in the crowd.

Not sure if you’re talking about same thing as I am ie. that there’s no talent shows anymore in Canada and also that this is the age of the tween stars but I’m sure the tweens being turned, churned into stars have that much of a story behind them. “what makes you different”? I presume that’s a general question and not just aimed at AndrewVictoria? Whatever the case, thanks for the comments. Certainly some good points to consider.

I meant to say the tweens, teen stars DON’T have that much of a story behind them. Today, as it’s been now for years, it’s all about the money men finding another source of revenue … and not so much about the talent, that’s for sure.
