HONESTLY UNFORGETTABLE! You might forget a few of the books you pick up this year. But you won’t forget this one. No Tears For My Father is a true story of child abuse, written with an honesty almost as unbelievable as the story itself. As I read, I kept wanting this story not to be true. But truth has its own ring that writers of fiction cannot achieve.

IMPRESSIVE WRITING SKILLS PRESENT A DIFFICULT TOPIC IN AN ENGAGING MANNER:

Becoming immersed in Viga’s story is effortless. It takes impressive writing skills to present a difficult topic in an engaging manner, without descending into a pedantic “victim” story, and Viga easily accomplishes this task, breaking down the barriers between herself and her readers. No Tears isn’t a depressing read because throughout Viga’s sparkling sense of humour and love of life lights up the darkness of her story. She went through hell but she survived, thrived and “got the last laugh” as her father was unable to crush her spirit and her will to live, love and to help others.

HOW DOES A MALE READER feel after reading NO TEARS FOR MY FATHER?
I am the first male reader to review “No Tears for My Father” on this page. I’m sure any other male who appreciates a true, superbly written, powerful human interest story would find the book as difficult to put down as I did. After receiving it by post yesterday lunchtime I finished reading the book this morning at 4 a.m., unable to sleep until I had read the last page.

INCEST IS A HEINOUS CRIME THAT HAS BEEN KEPT HIDDEN THROUGHOUT HISTORY

As I read the tale of one year spilling into another of cruel, shameful treatment, I grew to despise her mother almost as much as I hated her father. The second great betrayal is when the people who should be your supporters and protectors leave you in the cold, frightening world that is your life. Page after page, I was rooting for Viga to finally escape the torture that she had endured for so many years. I hope that her book has finally set her free from her past.

THIS BOOK IS A POWERHOUSE OF EMOTION!

This book is a powerhouse of emotion. I have read many, many books in my life, but there have been just a small number that I was so drawn to that I had to keep reading without putting them down even once; this is one of those jewels.  I was drawn to Viga’s story not only by the complete honesty in the sharing of this deep and painful part of her life, but also by her ability to draw me into her story as if I was living her life right along with her.

I recently read Viga’s story, “No Tears for my Father” , and like many others had a hard time putting it down until I had finished. What a brave lady to rise above the abuse and share with us the painful details of her childhood. I cheered for you as I read the book and wish you all the best…George & Bonnie C

I have read “no Tears For My Father”. A very hard read, but nothing compared to your pain. And all the answers to the why’s are there, except for, what makes for such depravity. I was exuberent when you finally rode away from it, except unfortunately from the awful after effects. Thank you for writing this, hopefully it can help to prevent this happening to others and help those who have experienced it. Gail

If in your lifetime, you’re going to pick up and read just one book on child sexual abuse, then this is THE book! From the graphics soul-baring paragraphs, comes an image of a lonely & frightened young girl who daily has wait hand and foot on her tyrant of a father to satisfy his every demand, including those of lust.

Every chapter is a page-turner, not because it is made up of exaggerated fiction, but because it is unfortunately a true horror story representative of so many other innocent victims’ out there. Each painful blow to the head from the father, each bruising lash of his belt, and each act of his sinful lust toward his daughter makes me think of my own precious daughters and their sweet classmates. Furthermore, it angers me to the point of wishing to find all those sick perpetrators out there and castrate everyone of them….Now THAT is powerful writing! Now, I’ve never been a proponent of violence for violence, but in this case, I doubt that the punishment would even be adequate for the crime — a crime committed to a shockingly high number of innocent children in every culture, in every time period.

Isn’t it time we all do something about this to protect our generations and minimize the demoralization to this degree of lowness? The author’s description of violence and of sexual violation is a cry for victims to come out and seek help and is a shout out to raise awareness of child sexual abuse. If prior to reading this heartbreaking memoir, you had been naive about incest, you now know. If you hadn’t cared about the topic, you are now moved to take action!
